2021.09.28 15:21 KimBrrr1975 2 tools that have helped me change my relationship to junk food/eating/health
I have been an avid amateur student of fitness and nutrition for most of my adult life (more than 20 years now). I read a lot about it. But all that knowledge has never resulted in me being able to make better choices. Over the last 6 months, 2 things I've discovered helped me a ton in this way so I thought I would share them.
#2 I keep a junk food spreadsheet. I got tired of tracking every calorie and trying to dig through what I tracked to find problem areas. Since I eat healthy otherwise, I started tracking only what I count as junk food to see how much I really eat (because I often forget what I had 2 days ago or plain lie to myself about it). It was eye-opening and remains one of my best tools. When I am at the store after work, hungry, and staring down the saltwater taffy, I remember I will have to log it and I don't want to have to enter that on my sheet, so I avoid it. Instead I imagine myself going home and making my afternoon green smoothie and know I will not only enjoy it far more, but feel so much better having that than a pile of candy.
I log the item, the calories, and then I total up each day, and each week. The total for the week I color code with the highlight function as good, borderline, or bad. I basically include anything processed in this journal but you could do it however you need. I eat mostly whole foods, and so anything outside of that is a snack/junk for me. If we have frozen pizza, I log that as junk, as an example. But I also want to feel ok to enjoy a snack once in a while at a party or whatever, as long as it's not a significant portion of what I eat in a week. For me, I set limits of 1,000 calories a week as good, 2000 as the bordedanger zone and 3000+ as bad. When I first started the log, I kept track for 2 weeks of my average eating and found I was eating 7,000 calories a week in junk. A pint of ice cream here, a box of candy there. It adds up fast. I also log my reasoning for why I gave into the snack. Sometimes, I don't regret it. Like when I enjoyed a piece of peanut butter pie my son requested for his bday. That was worth it. 90% of the time I do regret it, and I write down why in the log. "rewarded myself for my hard work during the day. Wasn't worth it." etc. It helps to retrain my brain around my excuses for allowing junk.
Secondly, I took some time to write, in-depth, what I want from my health and fitness. What things do I believe about food and body movement? What I'd like my life to consist of in that department and why, and then what I can do to ensure I make healthy choices. Every day it is the first thing I do when I get up. While my coffee is brewing, I read over that document and my beliefs, ideals, and goals. When I struggle to make a choice, I read sections I highlighted that remind me of my goals so I can see how that decision does, or doesn't, help me reach them. Last night my husband had a plate of cheese and crackers at 9pm. One of my goals is to stick with intermittent fasting, so I don't eat after 6pm. I had to bring up that document and read that section on why that is important to me. It is centered around my health, my future, the things I like to do that I need good health for (everything), and how I feel when I make good versus bad decisions for my health. Do I really want to give up annual backpacking with my sister to eat a bag of cheetos every Friday night? Nope. Do I want to give up enjoying long walks with my husband so I can enjoy a pint of Haagen Dasz and Moscow Mules every weekend? Nope. It keeps me balanced and centered to always keep my eye on the prize, the things that matter most to me that require my health.

2021.09.28 15:21 Warfan_1815 Stalker 13 is down for now.
Over the past few weeks, I have been party to - and most experimentally involved in- a server by the name of "Ashes on Sunday" well, it got very popular on the playtests were run. Averaging around 50 players every playtest.
And here's the part where I break the news to everyone, Tristian (the host of the server) decided to pull the plug. Mostly due to personal reasons, the discord server is down & he will not be planning on running anymore playtests. The github is still up, and people who have contributed have the code so that will not be disappearing.
It is very likely someone, especially those who were managers, will resurrect the server. So I recommend you be on the lookout for that, but for now at least. This is the end of the only English Stalker 13 server.

2021.09.28 15:21 10krevlimit Is learning welding worth it?
I have been wondering about learning a new skill while I'm studying for university, to pay for rent and such. I was thinking about going to a welding school to have as a part time job. The reason i picked this is because its the one that i prefer and feel like is really awesome. I'm studying to become a mechanical engineer so its in my line of interests:)
I wanted to learn welding because i really like cars, and i wanted to make my own little project as well in the future (build my own racecar chassi). But in the meantime i can work as a welder and get some experience and money while studying at the same time. But i wonder if working part time as a welder is "unprofessional" or looked down on? Or should i go with something else?

2021.09.28 15:21 Usual_Lengthiness_48 Been having a 3 day urge and it hasn’t been going away
I’m 13 days in and for some reason I’ve been insanely horny the last 3 days. I actually haven’t looked at a single porn video or touched myself but it’s getting harder by the day. Idk I tried cold showers and walking, maybe it’s because I work from home?

2021.09.28 15:21 thegodscott Efficient questing guide
Is there a guide out there to get quests done on a fresh account. I've gotten a few quest capes so I know the quests well. But I'm looking for something that starts right off of spawn. I'm looking for something that tells exactly what to grab and what quests to start before moving to the next area. For example buy 2 buckets and grab 3 eggs, start these 2 quests and then you can walk to varrock. Something like that.

2021.09.28 15:21 Olfaspur Home distilled stuff to vinegars
I don't know exactly where to out it, but I have some projects running for the first time. Since I will probably do my first still run in about a week I am still unsure where to cut. Since the head is bad for you I wanted to make something safe with my first test run.
So here my question and reason why I posted it in fermentation do the toxins remain if you make your own vinegar? Example: celery vinegar: you first have to make the celery juice and then dilute it with alcohol to reach 8-12 ABV. Does the fermentation make it OK to use?

2021.09.28 15:21 R4mj4y Parallel Mediation, Assumptions
Hey guys, I'm currently writing my master thesis and have done a parallel Mediation analysis with the PROCESS Macro from Hayes. That means that I have one independent variable (IV), two mediators that are parallel and one dependent variable (DV)
Unfortunately, the analysis comes without assumption checks and I have a few questions.
Do the assumptions of simple linear regression (SLR) or of multiple regression apply? The way I see it is that it lies somewhere in between, since there is only one IV as in SLR, yet it is more complex than SLR.
Furthermore, I do have questionnaire items as variables which are rated on a 5-point Likert Scale (so I guess I have ordinal variables). Given the nature of the items and limitations of responses to them, which assumptions need to be checked? Because from my pov, checking linearity does not make that much sense with non-continuous variables.
I'm not sure whether I'm right though and a little embarrassed since I should probably know such stuff by now.
I'm glad for any kind of help!

2021.09.28 15:21 NullAndVoid21 Bungie, with the addition of weapon crafting, please bring back weapons with different sights.
Barrel perks, while they can be helpful on things like shotguns, just don’t feel as good as having scope options. With the goal of weapon crafting being to let us customize our weapons, this would be a great time to bring back scope/sight options. I’m not saying to let us put a sniper scope on a sidearm, but what we had in D1 was, in my opinion, a lot better than barrel options.
